MARIO BADESCU ’50th Anniversary Set’ TESTING, IS IT WORTH IT?

MARIO BADESCU ’50th Anniversary Set’ TESTING, IS IT WORTH IT?

So recently I purchased the Mario Badescu ‘The 50th Anniversary Edition Set With Drying Lotion and Facial Spray’ off Beauty Bay. Now I have had my eyes on this for months and wanted to pick it up, so I thought I would just treat myself!

So this set includes a Drying Lotion, Silver Powder, Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater, Flower & Tonic Mask and also the Enzyme Cleansing Gel and I’m going to review each item and then see if it’s worth the money!

Drying Lotion

Price/Weight

£16 for 29ml

Scent

This smells quite strong and if you aren’t a fan of really overpowering scents then you won’t like this however for how good it is I have gotten over the scent.

What it claims to do

‘Drying Lotion clears up and soothes unsightly whiteheads overnight without irritating the surrounding skin. Suitable for all skin types, even those with the most sensitive of skin types, Drying Lotion provides immediate relief from break-outs and blemishes, making it a certified skincare must-have.’

Performance

So you simply take a cotton bud dip it in the pot and dab all over your spots, watching out for sensitive parts. You leave it on overnight and then in the morning simply wipe with a flannel. I found it easy to use. After my first use of this I was super impressed, I had a giant spot on my forehead between my brows and nothing was helping it until I used the drying lotion on it. Overnight it was hardly a spot anymore and it’s nearly disappeared. All in all this stuff is great!

Conclusion

I have fallen in love with this, it lives up to the hype. If you suffer with spots then this is a saviour. I feel so much more confident in my own skin since using this. It is not just one of those hyped up spot treatments that don’t do anything, this truly works. The price tag is steep however if you want something to make a difference this is the one for you. They also sell this in a plastic bottle which I will be purchasing eventually as I think for travel it would be great!

Silver Powder

Price/Weight

£12 for 29g

Scent

It doesn’t really smell of anything

What it claims to do

‘A pore-clearing powder. To be used 1-2 times a week, Silver Powder clears and purifies the T-zone. Suitable for all skin types, mix the oil-absorbent powder with water to create a paste that removes oils, dirt and blackheads whilst minmising and smoothing pores.’

Performance

So I simply used a wet cotton bud and mixed with the product to make the ‘paste’, then pressed it into my nose and chin. Then after 10 minutes I removed using my L’Oreal Toner. It was easy to do however I didn’t see too much difference after use.

Conclusion

All in all I don’t really think this does much, if you continually used it then maybe you’d see a difference however I’m not a fan.

Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater

Price/Weight

£7 for 118ml

Scent

This smells lovely, really fresh.

What it claims to do

‘Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe Herbs & Rosewater is a refreshing, hydrating mist for all skin types. Created with a blend of fragrant herbal extracts and rosewater, it lightly refreshes skin whilst boosting hydration and relieving dehydrated, tight complexions. Mist it over your moisturiser for a hydration boost or use it to set makeup. It can even be used on dry hair as a light moisturising mist.’

Performance

I simply sprayed my face with this after doing my skincare and makeup and it gave a really dewy nice finish. It feels fresh and nice on the skin.

Conclusion

All in all I like this facial spray however I feel like I have alternatives that I prefer such as Mac fix plus. This won’t stop me from using the product as it is nice and I don’t want to waste it.

Flower & Tonic Mask

Price/Weight

£18.50 for 60ml

Scent

This smells divine, really fresh.

What it claims to do

‘Mario Badescu Flower & Tonic Mask (60ml) is a combination purifying and calming mask for congested, bumpy or slightly oily skin types.

  • The Kaolin based formula absorbs dirt and oil from pores.
  • The soothing, botanical Balsam Peru ingredient soothes minor redness and irritation.
  • Suitable for oily & combination skin.’

Performance

I simply took my face mask brush and applied a thin layer to my face. After 20 minutes I removed using warm water and a muslin cloth.

Conclusion

I like this mask, it is fresh and calming to my skin. I have things similar (Like the Clarins Sos Pure mask) however I do like this and it does what it claims to do. This is a good shout if you do have bumpy/spotty/congested skin, I’m impressed.

Enzyme Cleansing Gel

Price/Weight

£13 for 236ml

Scent

This has a slight scent of cucumber in my opinion, it smells fresh.

What it claims to do

‘Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel (236ml) is a non-foaming, gel cleanser that thoroughly removes the day’s make-up, dirt and oil without drying the skin.

  • Papaya Extracts are exfoliating Alpha Hydroxy Acids that help break down dulling build-up, leaving skin fresh and healthy.
  • Suitable for all skin types.’

Performance

I used this first off when I wasn’t wearing any makeup in the evening, I used a tiny bit and applied it to damp skin and I fell in love straight away! This cleanser really removes all the dirt and makeup if you’re wearing it. This has quickly become my daily cleanser, I actually look forward to cleansing!

Conclusion

I really like this and will continue to use it. It does the job so I can’t complain!
